Essay on Art
Art is a way of expression. It comes in many forms, such as illustration, painting and sculpture. Art can be found in everything, including mundane objects that we engage with in our daily lives. It plays an important role in countless ways, one being that it gives us historical context to important events.
Whether art is visually appealing, or has deeper meaning, is highly subjective and at times, a major point of contention. Art is able to be very interpretive, and open-ended. Some believe that art is made better by concept and creativity rather than purely technical skill. I agree, finding that technical skill can make a piece impressive, but a piece that evokes strong feeling is much more valuable.
Essay on Design
Design implies functionality. It serves the specific purpose of finding a solution to a problem. Because of this, it is largely benefited by innovation. Design is a way of visual communication, and comes in the forms of architectural design, product design etc.
Design plays a large role in influencing people’s mindsets and perspectives on life, changing the way we engage with the world. Rather than be solely about an end product, it’s function is often emphasized by its use in a process/procedure. It works to enhance our lives, whether it be for the sake of convenience or aesthetics, or even resource conservation.
Essay on Craft
Craft is an activity which relies on a skillset to create objects. Many crafts are made with the intended result of decorative or functional use. Requiring skill in both planning and execution, it is often made better with experience and application of technique. Forms of craft include ceramics, carpentry and metalwork.
Crafts are heavily linked to cultural heritage as shown throughout history. It tells us stories and provides context about a way of life. Representative of values and tradition, history is an important aspect of craft. These preserved lifestyles teach us about our evolution.
Essay comparing Knowledge and Creativity
Knowledge is information or skill that a person possesses. It can also be an awareness or understanding gained through experiences. Creativity is based on and developed by knowledge. It is commonly used in, but not limited to the production of art. Historic achievements that led to greater productivity and solving world problems could not have been accomplished without creativity. It allows for broader perspectives and unique ways of thinking that benefit humanity.

While knowledge is purely fact and reason, creativity uses imagination to apply it. It forms knowledge into something new, either by creating a completely new idea or combining already existing ideas. Knowledge can be intentionally taught and learned, while creativity can not. Knowledge is undeniably valuable, but creativity drives innovation and with it, our world forward.
